The Full Story
Ruupa Raaman began her musical journey at the age of five, learning the Saraswati Veena under the guidance of the Late Smt. Vijaya Vishwanathan. She later pursued Hindustani Vocal Music alongside her brother, Ranjan, training for over a decade under the legendary Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan.
Her professional career commenced in 1999 with a brief stint at the iconic first Planet M store in Mumbai. She then joined Virgin Records/EMI Music India, where she served as Assistant Manager – Artist & Repertoire, overseeing more than 200 releases across Indian Classical, Indie, and Film genres over a span of three years.
Ruupa has since worked as an independent Creative Producer in media for 15 years, seamlessly balancing her corporate work with her enduring passion for music. She continues her training in Hindustani classical with Dr. Divya Dayal and composes and publishes original music under her own banner—an artistic pursuit deeply rooted in cultural heritage and authenticity.
